Colette's Catering & Specialty Cakes & Muckenthaler Mansion: A Dynamic Duo! Amazing Food, 5 star Service, A Stunning OC Venue!!!

www.colettesevents.com
Wow! It has truly been a very busy wedding season and things do not appear to be slowing down anytime soon however, even when it's this busy I still make it a point to connect and re-connect with all of my clients, vendors and service providers who truly make every event a smashing success! I'm one of those Wedding Planners & Event Coordinators who believe in creating a solid team of industry professionals who understand innovation, have levels of creativity that are truly remarkable and provide a level of service that put both myself & my clients at ease.

I recently had the opportunity to meet with one of these industry pros, Mr. Duane Greenleaf of Colette's Catering Extraordinaire in Orange County, Ca. Duane was absolutely fantastic, so knowledgeable about his craft and followed up with me immediately with some great menu's for a wedding I am currently working on at the Seven4One Hotel in Laguna Beach, Ca. I have been wanting to connect with Colette's Catering for quite some time as I have heard nothing but rave reviews regarding their catering & event services. I was completely impressed with Colette's facility. It's elegant, super clean & modern.  I would feel very confident sending any client there for a consultation or tasting. What I loved about one of their showrooms was the perfectly placed window that allows you to peek into the bakery and watch these culinary geniuses create magnificent desserts & cakes right before your eyes. By the way, Colette's is famously known for their Specialty Cakes too! Works of art!

Colette's happens to be the exclusive caterer at the prestigious Muckenthaler Mansion which is a premier wedding & special event venue in Fullerton, Ca. If you are shopping around for Orange County venues for your wedding or are looking for a fantastic new place to host a private party or perhaps a corporate event or awards dinner, you should certainly keep the Muckenthaler Mansion in mind. It's a great alternative to a hotel ballroom or banquet hall and is just breathtakingly beautiful!

A Very Long Engagement. How Long Is Too Long?

My Fiance Chris and I. Engaged for 1 year, 11 months & Counting. Which brings us to discuss... What do people think & say about very looooong engagements?
Why Have a Very Long Engagement?
There are many reasons why couples choose an extended engagement period. Some of the more common explanations include:
Military service including possible deployments overseas
Finishing a college degree at a distant university
Saving enough money to pay for the wedding independently
Serving a religious or humanitarian mission
Moving to a new home or buying a house.

Or My Reason:
WE ARE SO BUSY AND HAVE NO TIME TO PLAN!!!
Hence, why my clients sweetly refer to me as the Wedding Planner who can't plan her own wedding! Kinda like the movie...

Whether the couple plans a very long engagement because of personal, financial, or social reasons, they must be prepared to weather questions and concerns from well-meaning people who want to see them finally wed. Being prepared to deal with those questions and knowing how to plan through an extended engagement will help the couple draw closer during their courtship than they might during a whirlwind engagement.

What Makes It Long?
The typical engagement period, from the time of the
marriage proposal to exchanging vows, is typically 8-12 months. For some couples, even a year may be a long time, particularly if their lives are in a state of upheaval and they’re experiencing a lot of changes, or if they’ve already been together for several years. On the other hand, for a couple planning an elaborate wedding or with other immediate concerns, even two years may not seem long. What makes a very long engagement depends on the couple, and even though a few months may seem like an eternity when you are eager to begin your life together, those planning months are critical to developing your relationship for a successful marriage.
Dealing with Family and Friends
Depending on a couple’s individual circumstances, family members and friends may or may not be pleased about the idea of a very long engagement. An
engagement party can encourage their support and let them get to know both the bride- and groom-to-be while celebrating the couple’s new status.
Honesty is critical when explaining the length of your engagement, and be sure to illustrate how a long term courtship is the best option for your situation.
It is also important to remember that your relationships may change during a long engagement. Try not to commit to including certain people in the bridal party or other critical wedding roles until the wedding date is nearer and your plans are being finalized.
Whatever you choose to do, own it. Don't feel pressured into doing anything that's not right for the both of you! Eventually things will happen just as they should...

video

Customcandybuffetbars.com was asked to create a gorgeous Custom Candy Buffet for Elle & Tito's Wedding located at the Magnificent Shutters on the beach hotel in Santa Monica, California on 7/30/2009.

(I was told Oprah and dignitaries often stay at this hotel!)

Elle & Tito were selected to get Married on Myspace after thousands of engaged couples also entered the contest. The event was in conjunction with THE KNOT bridal magazine and was revolutionary.

Each episode of the webisodes can be found on the Married on Myspace Channel.

http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&ChannelID=438968492

We created a beautiful display of Black & White assorted Candy and goodies with matching accents and decor. Guests LOVED the candy buffet and were so surprised when it was revealed. They feasted on all kinds of sweets from our Giant Sized Marshmallows, Grapefruit Sours, Licorice, Oreos, Malt Balls and so much more. Beautiful Flowers enhanced the table that were provided by the fabulous Stephanie Grace Designs.

We were honored to be a very Sweet part of this event and loved working with the Myspace Crew, the production team as well as all the staff from The KNOT, Toby from the Shutters hotel and the entire crew!

Well done team.

Sweetly,
Jackie
